Would it be a stretch that the presence of God is what’s holding everything together and without it we would have already fallen into chaos? This is one of many thoughts in my cranium that take up space.

We have all heard on occasion that believers (Christians) want to get into the presence of God, which is an odd statement to me. I am specifically speaking to believers, because let’s face it, non-believers would probably never say that.

(Gen1) Isn’t it interesting that in the beginning, the Spirit of God hovered over the waters.

According to 2Thes 1:9, judgement for us is to be removed from the presence of God, if we are not in good standing.

Would we know if we are in good standing? Perhaps if we were honest with ourselves.

Hebrews states that Jesus is now in the presence of God, he was the final sacrifice. The thought is, that because Jesus is in us having been filled with the Holy Spirit, we are already in the presence of God. Unless you can leave the presence of God and go somewhere, then I could see that you would want to get back to it. Since the separation of the presence of God is what eternal punishment would be like, perhaps we should look at this a different way?

Could we teach this in a different way, where the weightiness of the Holy Spirit is a good place to be? This is not a conditional or performance-based request but something inherent in us already as a believer. And just because we don’t feel it, does not mean it’s not there, so we instead have a belief issue that needs to be addressed.

Are you continually going after something you already have or have access to?
